Skin problems (Dermatology)

Skin rushes, Psoriasis, shingles, Trophic ulcers, Dermatitis, Eczema, Hives

Many dermatologists believe that any changes in the skin indicate a development of pathological processes in the body. The leech can help regulate many processes as it provides the following:

  • anti-inflammatory effect
  • anti-bacterial effect
  • painkilling effect
  • the ability to dilate blood vessels which improves blood supply to affected tissues which speeds up the healing
  • improved oxygen and nutrients supply which assists the healin
  • regulating metabolic processes
  • removal of congested blood, lymph and toxins
  • the size of area of damaged skin is typically reduced;
  • general well-being improves;
  • redness of the skin decreases;
  • itching (if any) reduces
  • skin starts to heal faster
  • detox effect, etc

Skin diseases usually occur in the two uppermost layers of the skin, the epidermis and the dermis.  The leeches help to improve blood circulation and nourishment of the skin, which together with all other benefits mentioned above help to relieve many common skin diseases.

Most patients feel better even after the first application of leeches. Depending on the problem 1-2 sessions can make a needed difference (i.e. for boils and carbuncles). And 5-10 sessions usually required for more serious conditions like psoriasis or eczema. The treatment with leeches has been shown to lengthen the periods of remission in many patients with skin diseases, and to delay the onset of illness ‘flare-ups’.
